The Beginning
Electrical Sales Corporation was founded in 1949 by Roger Bissinger. The first work Roger did was out of his mother-in-law’s basement. Roger paid rent. Lucky for him, that rent came with home-cooked lunches and Roger’s favorite hot fudge brownies. The initial focus of the business was off-shore paging systems.
Roger’s business theory was simple: “Install the best equipment for the price, make an excellent installation, and provide free 24/7 service for one year including, but not limited to, problems with the Bell System.”
Roger and his staff built a solid reputation throughout the Greater New Orleans Area as a company with honest, hard workers with the ability and training to get the job done right.
In the mid-1970s, the FCC instituted a certification program stating that all telephone equipment meeting specific standards could be connected to the Bell System’s public switched telephone network. In 1978, ESC took advantage of this program. It began selling and installing telephone systems in the Greater New Orleans Area, offering customers an alternative to the high monopolistic prices of South Central Bell.
The Next Generation
1975, Roger’s son, Allan, joined ESC. Like Roger, Allan earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University and worked diligently to learn all aspects of the business. It was essential to keep the original business theory at the forefront: “The best equipment for the best price with impeccable service.”
In the late 1990s, the company moved its operations to the present location at 2500 L&A Road in Metairie. The new site gave ESC an expanded warehouse and a larger space for an on-site workshop, allowing the company to serve more customers. In 1992, Allan took over as President of the company while Roger continued as Chairman.” T
